Thanks to all those who attended our webinar yesterday. We are pleased to share with you details and the link to our next webinar – “The Role of the Designated Person in Supporting Patients and their Families” which takes place next week on Wednesday 20th October at 11.00am (event details below).

As always, we will be recording this webinar and making it available on the HSE Open Disclosure website for those of you who may be interested but are not in a position to attend.  


We are delighted to welcome our guest presenter for this webinar – Ms Josephine Griffin, Patient Liaison Manager at the Mercy Hospital Cork. Josephine will be joined by our very own Catherine Hand, Trainer and Educator for the open disclosure programme, who also has great experience in patient advocacy and in the designated person role, supporting patients and their families.

The purpose of this webinar is to provide an overview of the Role of the Designated Person including:

•             Provide an insight into the experience of a Patient Advocate in this role in an Acute Hospital using case studies to demonstrate the impact of the support provided in this important role

•             Outline the skills needed and the communication approaches that are important to fulfil this role

•             Highlight the importance of self-care in this role of the Designated Person
